Hi, just want to know if and how this scenario works. I've got 2 adapters, and 2 cars. My wife and I sometimes switch cars. Right now I have the automatic app on my phone and and the first adapter installed in the car I drive most of the time. On Monday I'll be getting the 2nd adapter to go in the car my wife drives most of the time. Can we have both cars added to the apps on both our phones? Will that work, and what happens if we both get in one of the cars and take a drive together?

Hi, Joshua! Yes, the multi-user scenario you are describing is possible. However, we can't guarantee that trips will be associated with the right account 100% of the time. In addition to that, there is also an additional step in the step-up process for the second user. The second user creates an Automatic account in the app and performs setup with the vehicle, just like the first person did. The additional step is that the second user will need to unplug the adapter when asked for the security PIN, and then plug it back in on the next step. Otherwise, it’s exactly the same process.

When you both get in the same vehicle to take a drive together, the adapter will connect to the first phone it "sees" and the trip will only appear in that person's account. So to make sure the adapter connects to the right user, we recommend that the Automatic user who is not driving, turn off their Bluetooth when in the vehicle.

In this scenario, do trips for both cars show up in both users' apps and web dashboards? That is, will the husband see the trips the wife drives in his app as well?

Hey, Adam! In the scenario described above, the trip will only show up on the account of the connected user. So the husband would not see the trips the wife drives in his app since they use separate accounts.
