Adapter killing battery on Silverado?

Our insurance company sent us adapters for our three cars, one of which is a 1999 Silverado 1500. Adapter installed just fine and is working with the phone app just fine. It's been in the truck for 5 days. However, when we went to start the car earlier today (it was running just fine as recently as yesterday) the battery was completely dead. After looking at FAQs online and entering the car into the compatibility finder, it turns out the adapter is not yet compatible with our vehicle. First, why would the insurance company send us an adapter that was not compatible with our vehicle; and second, is the adapter causing the battery to die because it's putting the truck in some kind of constant diagnostic mode? Can we continue to use the adapter if we just unplug it when we're not actually driving the truck? We really need the insurance discount we're hoping to get by using the adapter for 90 days!

Hi Rebecca,

I am going to export this ticket to Customer Care so they can assist you with this.
Thanks so much for your help, Derrick! Look forward to a resolution. For now, we're just unplugging the Adapter when not in use.
