The app is installed on my phone, but my daughter drives the car and reside with me. How can I set this up so I can see and be updated with what is going on with the car?

Hey Bryan,

Thanks for getting in touch and for your question!

Does your daughter have the Automatic application setup on her phone? If not, completed trip information will not be available until the next time you sync with the adapter. Also, to be clear, we recommend that each user has their own account. This is most important if you have multiple adapters in multiple cars. When each driver has their own account, you will only be able to see parking location after a completed trip with a paired phone.

If you share an account (which again, we don't recommend), you will be able to see completed trip information. However, the adapter and application do not report real-time data during a trip.

For more information on multi-user, please see this FAQ.

Sorry. And to initiate the upload do you have to launch the App? Or is it Automatic? No pun intended.

Hey Bryan,

Thanks for getting back. So it depends on the setup. Are you planning on having multiple Automatic adapters in multiple cars? If so, each driver should have their own Automatic account with the app installed on their phone and paired with the adapters. If you are just going to use one car/one adapter, you can share an account although it still isn't an ideal setup.

If you decide to go with the latter setup, where your daughter has the Automatic app installed on her phone with your account (Note: you will need to go through setup again, this time with her phone), any trips that are completed with the Automatic adapter plugged in and connected to the adapter will show up in the trip feed after completed. If you were at home and she was driving the car, you wouldn't be able to see the current driving location, but you could see the completed trip and where the car is after the car is parked, turned off and the adapter paired to the phone to sync the data to Automatic.

In most cases, the app will launch automatically in the background.

I hope this helps, Bryan. Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.
