Audible alarm when OBD PID range exceeded

My car, like many, has gauges that give falsely stable readings, to keep owners from freaking out when things fluctuate naturally. My temperature gauge is calibrated to read 80 degrees C when the real value is anywhere from 65–95 (according to OBD, as measured with OBD Fusion, so far). I don't believe it has a warning buzzer or light, either. The conventional wisdom in my car's community is, by the time you notice the gauge is high (which you won't, because you never look at it, because it never moves), it's too late!

Rather than install a third-party gauge/buzzer or rely on a monitoring app, I'd love it if the Automatic app could let me configure the adapter to monitor certain OBD PIDs, and beep if the value goes out of the range I've set. Perhaps it could even support multiple ranges/thresholds with different beeps, to indicate audibly which PID and value was exceeded. I suspect this is somewhat achievable with integrations, but I think it'd be valuable as a native adapter feature, since our phones aren't always present/connected... but the adapter is!

(It seems this would also dovetail with others' requests that other real-time audible alerts be reintroduced to the Pro, which I just learned about. Personally I appreciate that the Pro is generally silent, but I wouldn't mind the ability to opt in/out to some of those notifications too.)

Thanks for the otherwise awesome product – keep up the great work!

Hi Luke,

Thank you for the detailed suggestion! Unfortunately since the Automatic adapter is not a complete diagnostic tool and is not intended to be, that is not something that we will be adding.

I wish I had better news!
