After a busy summer of work and fantastic feedback from our beta testers, we’ve released Automatic 1.0 for iPhone! The timing is perfect because this version is optimized for iOS 7, so be sure to update for a better experience. Also, please check out this topic about a change in how iOS7 treats the app after you've killed it or restarted your phone.

We’ll begin shipping Links this week to non-beta iPhone customers based on original order date. We’re thrilled to be shipping to all iPhone orders by the end of the month -- except, of course, those scheduled for October, which will start shipping in a few weeks. However, the beta program revealed a small fraction of car models that aren’t (yet!) compatible with Automatic. If this affects your order, we’ll contact you directly.

Crash Alert beta
Existing crash detection services are great but require expensive subscriptions. With Automatic, we wanted to extend crash assistance to the millions of drivers without it. Crash Alert is innovative in that it can detect many types of serious crashes using your Link’s built-in accelerometer and automatically report the crash to local authorities using your iPhone’s data connection.

Because this is a safety feature, we are keeping Crash Alert in beta even as we release Automatic 1.0. We will continue testing and improving Crash Alert over the coming weeks and roll it out to users gradually. We expect it to be available to everyone in November. Learn more at automatic.com/crashalert.

Multi-User Support
Automatic 1.0 also features support for people who share a car. Learn how it works in this topic.

And finally, thanks to all of you. It’s been a great ride so far getting to Automatic 1.0 and we’re excited for many miles to come!

Hi Leith. Sorry about that. It's a known bug and we've already submitted a fix to the app store -- just awaiting approval. In the meantime, if you log out and log back in, your data should all come back.

This is a great conversation that's separate from the main topic, so I created a new topic to continue the discussion. Please reference the new topic here: My data disappeared after updating to Automatic 1.0

guys, i really love all of your hard work, but i have to be honest... i'm pretty disappointed in 1.0. after all the talk of things that were in the works (particularly the crash reporting) i felt a bit deflated when 1.0 didn't include anything new to speak of. Also, having stuck up for you guys on this forum when people were complaining about a lack of features... having told them to hold on and wait till things were out of beta... i feel like i was made to look a bit foolish... I understand that things are sometimes difficult to develop, particularly when it can affect the safety of people driving their vehicles, but the law of diminishing returns is true and i feel that 1.0 has left more than just myself feeling a bit over promised to.

I really, sincerely hope that VERY SOON there will be more updates that include the crash reporting as well as real time data. there's so much potential here.

Hey Jason,
First off, your involvement in the community (which the whole team has noticed) has been incredible. Second, thank you for sharing how you feel about 1.0. I personally appreciate your honesty, and I get it.

All I can say is that it motivates me to make the incredible potential of Automatic real. We'll get there!

thanks for the response. it highlights the goodness of this forum for feedback. getting a quick response to your thoughts instead of just sending an email or other message to a generic inbox that seems to disappear in cyberspace is a great thing.

Thanks, Jason. Glad you think so! This community format certainly makes it so much easier for us to track requests and gauge interest in different features.
