There have been several recent news stories about babies tragically left in locked cars.  It occurred to me that with Automatic, all you would need to do is add a "baby on board" check box in the setup.  Then, whenever you shut off your car, the Automatic app would create an alert that you would need to acknowledge to confirm that the baby was not left in the car.  It's extremely simple.  In fact, if you failed to respond to the alert (left the phone in the car along with the baby?) it could even text a backup contact for added safety.  It could even send along the car's location!

Hey, you could even go further if there was a way to trigger the car's horn!

Anyway, safety measures like this can be selling points all by themselves.

Hello there, David! Welcome to the community, and thanks for the really interesting idea. One user has already come up with a very creative solution for this really tragic problem. Check out this IFTTT recipe for more details. If you connect your Automatic account to IFTTT and set up this recipe, each time your car's ignition is turned off you will receive an iOS alert telling you to check the backseat. Pretty clever, right?

Cool.  Of course, it might be a bit easier if it's built in.  I have no idea what a "recipe" is at this point, but I'll look into it.

Here's a link to the basics on IFTTT. You can also visit this page to learn more about how Automatic works with IFTTT.
