The write-up in the Sept. 1st WSJ interested me. But since I use Bluetooth to connect my car phone to my smart phone, wouldn't this be a problem with Automatic?

No. Your phone can make multiple concurrent BT connections. My Android phone is connected to both my car (texting, calls, etc etc) and my Automatic Pro.

Also, after setup, Automatic Pro doesn't have to be connected to your phone by BT.

Ahsok is correct, Trump. You really just need the supported smartphone with our app installed to get through the Setup of the Automatic Pro adapter. After that, the adapter will capture your trips & other driving data and sync it to your app on that phone (and any phone logged into your account) regardless of the phone being in the car or not.

I'm not sure I want all that trip data.  What triggered my interest was the police reporting if I was in an accident.  I'm 80 years old and only drive for pleasure, sometimes for long distances. Is the Automatic Pro what I need for that or can it be setup to ignore driving data?
Thanks for your help.
BTW, what's all this "points" stuff?

Hi Trump. It's all or nothing in terms of the features of Automatic. You can choose to ignore the data in the app, though, and just use it for Crash Alert. However, if anyone else ever drives your car, you might appreciate being able to keep track of your car in real time in the Automatic Pro app while it's being driven. The app will also show you your car's parked location at all times and give you walking directions to your car should you need it.

Please keep in mind that Crash Alert will only be triggered in the event of a serious crash and there can be some scenarios in which it won't be activated. Please read the following FAQs before making your purchase decision:

What is Crash Alert & how does it work?
How does Crash Alert with cellular work in Automatic Pro? Does it need my phone?
What factors cause Crash Alert to activate or not when I am in an accident?

I assume the "points" you're referring to are the ones you're seeing here in the community? This is a community platform provided by a third party company and that's their system of recognition for community participation. You can ignore it. :)
