Actually I'm not very satisfied for the upgradation from 2nd generation to 3rd (Pro), because Pro is silent all the time.

I'm the owner of 1st, 2nd and now the Pro version of automatic. 1st generation has a very good/loud buzzer, so I can hear it very clearly. 2nd generation is more silent than the previous one (due to your case design?). If I turn on the music, I can barely hear it. Then Pro version, you totally disabled audio/buzzer feedback totally.

Here are some features I need urgently:

1. Overspeed alert. It can let me know when my speed is over 70 or higher. Now I can only rely on waze.

2. Hard brake alert, which can help me for my driving skills.

3. Optional. In 1st or 2nd, when my adapter is connected to my phone, there is alert from its buzzer. In pro version, I can get a notification on my phone. But still prefer the buzzer alert.

If you have any ETA, I'm appreciated. Otherwise, probably I will keep my 2nd adapter instead.

Hi, Kane. I'm glad to hear you've appreciated the efficiency coaching in our original product. (Not everyone does! ;)

The Automatic Pro is a shift in how we're thinking about adding value to your car and car ownership. We've shifted to a vehicle-centric universe rather than a driver & driving-behavior centric one. However, while we don't have real-time audio alerts in Pro, we do still provide efficiency insights in the "Insights" tab in the app. But I hear you that getting those real-time audio alerts is something you value.

I'm going to change your post to an "Idea" so it can be tracked that way. All features of the original product that users are missing are being evaluated and considered for possible future inclusion in the new product.

Got it, Noah. In the new app, notifications are designed to be within each feature so setting them is much more intuitive.

I agree with Kane and was extremely disappointed with changes. I have the same purchase history and find the Pro pretty useless. The audible warning for low fuel was the key reason I used the device but I fell in love with the driving warnings. Please add them back even if as an option you have to enable. I'm a one car, one driver family so driver centric is really perfect for me.

Thanks for your input, Devenie. The new products are going to remain vehicle-centric as that's how they're architected, but that doesn't mean that some of these features can't be incorporated. I've shared your feedback with the product team.

I too would like to see the hard breaking / acceleration alerts return as an optional feature.

I bought the Pro for my new car under the assumption that it was like the 1st generation adapter I have in my other car that I've had for years, but just had a lot more features. Honestly, after a couple trips with it being totally silent I'm not sure I'll bring myself to keep it. Nowhere that I've found details these feature removals.

I think that this reply shows a disrespect to early customers, the ones who got your company off the ground.

Seeing hard brakes, acceleration and miles over target speed in the trip overview of the original mobile app (for each trip) was one of the best app features. Please bring it back.

Amy, I agree. Bring back the features we all love. Make them configurable, but please bring them back. Shift to customer centric vs. product centric, listen to your customers

Hi Steven. Thanks for the feedback. We do listen to our customers. :) That's why this community exists at all and why we're so responsive here. (Here's a list of "implemented" ideas from our community). Unfortunately, we can't execute on everything that everyone wants.

To be honest, the Efficiency Coaching is quite a divisive feature. For all the customers who appreciate this feature, there are just as many, if not more, who despised it. It's a situation of not being able to please everyone all the time. But the Product team is very aware of the fact that there is a swath of folks who miss this feature. It's all a balancing act of considering user requests with business needs and resource realities.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Why doesn't my new Automatic Pro give audio feedback when I break or accelerate t....

My other Automatic provides feedback when I'm driving too fast or aggressive. Why doesn't the Automatic Pro provide this feedback.
With out this how else can I prove to my wife that I'm a better driver?!?!?

Hi Tucker. Audio feedback is not a feature in Automatic Pro. Someone has added it to the community as an idea so I've moved your post here.

Thank you. Can I return the Pro and get the 1st generation that provides the feedback?

Audio feedback is part of the 1st & 2nd generation adapters. We haven't sold the 1st generation product since May 2015. We stopped selling the 2nd generation in August 2016, though I believe Amazon still sells it and may currently have it discounted. Please see this post about the status of the 2nd gen adapter & its accompanying "Classic" app.

Our return policy is here. You'll need to email support@automatic.com to discuss a return.

Same as others, above. I'll pop back every once in a while to see if this feature is added again. Until then I'll use my first gen for as long as it lasts. I appreciated the audio reminders - it was my main "use" of the system, and I'm waiting for it before I upgrade to pro.

I would like to add my vote for this feature.  Overall I am loving my Automatic Pro, but this is the one feature from my Automatic Gen1 that I really miss.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled When will Automatic Pro get driving warning notifications, such as hard braking?.

I liked the notifications from my first and second generation Automatics telling me when I broke or accelerated too quickly. When will that feature come to Pro? I didn't expect to lose features buying the most updated, and expensive, product.

Hi Jeremy. Thanks for feedback. I've merged your question into this "Idea" post that users can vote on.

In the meantime, here's a FAQ about why Automatic Pro has a different feature set.

Amy,

Thanks for merging my support request.  It sounds like your support system needs to look at more of your site before starting a new issue.

We use a third party platform to host this support community. There actually is a dynamic search that happens and offers existing posts when you're creating a new topic. :)

I agree with everyone else who feels that it was a step back to remove the real-time audio feature.  As one of the original purchasers of the Automatic equipment and a gen2 owner as well, having this audible alert is extremely beneficial.  Knowing "instantly" when I hit the brake too hard or accelerate too quickly helps use psychology to curb my behavior (think Pavlov's dog).  All the Pro would need is a speaker (very inexpensive) and the ability to toggle this feature on or off from within the app.  People who hate it?  Turn it off.  People who love it? Turn it on.  Simple as that.

Disclaimer: I do not own a Pro edition nor do I know if it has a built-in speaker like Gen1 and Gen2 or not.  If it doesn't, I can somewhat understand the push back.  However, one could be added to the device while taking up little room at a low cost per unit (with the exception of the redesign costs to the hardware manufacturer).

Thanks for the feedback, Ryan. I've shared it with the product team. It's always nice to hear that there are folks out there who've found the Efficiency Coaching valuable.

There is a speaker built into the Pro -- it emits a beep when you plug it into the OBD-II port so that you know it's receiving power from the car. So as far as I understand, it's doable without a hardware update. There is a desire here to build some optional version of the efficiency coaching into the new app for Pro but it's all a matter of resource allocation and prioritization against other requests & requirements. Nothing is as simple as one might think! :) But hearing from from lots of users about their desire for something certainly helps!

It would be a good start to add the map features back in that allowed you to visualize hard brakes / acceleration and time over speed target in the maps in the mobile app (for each trip).

The realtime alerts definitely were the feature that made me buy the first version. The Pro is not useful without both realtime and mapping of the alerts.

I know it's not the same thing, but just in case you weren't aware, those events are still available on the trip maps in the Web Dashboard.

I have my Pro in the mail and would add to the thread that I too am very interested in having the hard event audio notifications added back. To hear that it would be a software update that could resolve the issue for so many of us wanting that feature is nice - allocate those resources for the customers that love your product!
