Let's say your teenage son lost his driving privileges. Can I disable the car so he can't drive it with out my permission? Can this function be accomplished via the API?

Hi John, interesting idea! Unfortunately, this feature is not possible with the current hardware of the Link. You may have some interest in this related discussion on remote engine start.

We're also planning to develop a teen driving product, and we'd love to hear your ideas surrounding this topic. Feel free to chime in here

Thanks for your prompt reply.

Good to know you're developing a teen product. Probably one of the most stressful aspects of being a parent -- handing over the keys to your teenager. I think your product has great promise.

I see this tool as a way to help young drivers become good drivers in a minimally invasive way.

But I was also hoping there would be the 'nuclear option' - taking away the keys -- without actually taking away the keys!

Thanks again.

No problem, John. Glad I could help.

Kudos to you for coming up with the "nuclear option" idea. I'm almost positive that you would see guaranteed results with it! ;)

Hi John, since your message we launched a product called License+, which helps parents and teens get through those tricky first years of unsupervised driving. Check it out here: https://www.automatic.com/license-plus/ It's free with Automatic.
