Combining trips would be useful!

I've only been using my Automatic Pro for a few days now but so far I really like it.  I've played around quite a bit on the App and on the web page.  One thing that seems like I should be able to do I can't... I either can't figure it out or the option doesn't exist. I've searched the forums and found no mention of this so I'm guessing it isn't a feature so that's why I made this topic an "idea".

I drive about 30 miles to work each day.  Often I'll stop at a gas station about 5 miles into my trip and grab a Diet Pepsi.  Takes just a few minutes then I jump back in my car and complete my trip to work.  This shows as 2 trips.  This is really just 1 trip with me stopping at the gas station.  It would seem that when people make trips, stopping for gas or running into the store for a soda during their "trip" would be extremely common.  But, because the car gets turned off when people do this, the Automatic Pro sees this as 2 trips when it's really just 1.  That's completely understandable and expected considering how the Automatic Pro determines the beginning and ending of a "trip" with the car being turned on/off.  But, just because I turned off my car for a few minutes, it doesn't mean my trip is over! LOL  I would think a simple fix, for people like me who would like to prevent getting gas from interrupting my "trip", would be the ability to manuall combine trips.

I think the easiest way to do this would be to allow a "combine" option box to be checked for each consecutive trip then a drop down box for "combine selected trips".  When this option is selected, all consecutive trips that are checked would then be combined.  Then, wouldn't it just be simple math to combine the data?  If you wanted to get fancy, you'd even put like a red asterisk on the map for that combined trip so people would know when reviewing it later "Oh, I must have stopped at this location for a bit during my trip."  Now, if you wanted to get super fancy you'd have an toggle on the trip data in the app and web page indicating "Combined Trip" and when you unchecked it, it expanded that one combined trip back out into the indvidial trips just like it originally was... then you could toggle back to the combined trip when done reviewing the individual ones.

I think something like this would be beneficial not only for the simple "I just ran in for soda" instances but also for those who are taking a long trip maybe 1,000 miles or so and want to see the entire trip as a single trip with total drive time, distance, mpg, etc.

Also, by being able to combine trips (the simple ones where you just stop the car for a few minutes for gas or a soda) it gives more data points for your drives to and from work, for example, to get a more accurate average over time of how long that trip takes, the mpg, etc.

Thanks!

Thanks for the suggestion Brent! We currently don't have plans to add this feature, but I think it's a great idea!

Well that's a bummer! I've done a little programming in my past and doesn't seem like it would be overly difficult to add it (but who knows).  I think you *should* add it to your plans for a future feature! LOL
