Compare two or more trips on different stats? Say total time, gas spent and short dureation complete stops ( at red lights or stop sign).

I would like have an analysis report of comparison of two or more trips on the following parameters
a) Total duration of the trip
b) Gas spent
c) Mileage
d) Total number of short duration complete stops like on red lights and stop signs( Helps a lot for city style driving)

Hi Kapil,

Thanks for the idea. So you're talking about comparing the exact same route but at different times of day or on different days or comparing two different routes that get to the same destination?

I think if you solve the problem of comparing routes between same origin and destination, you can solve the problem of same routes on different days and two different routes.

Ideally, I want to compare different routes within same origin and destination.

Ok, thanks for clarifying, Kapil. This is something we're actually working on!

Trip time?.

I would love to have the ability to look at how long my trips took me to complete. When I first started using the app, I assumed the feature was there, and was disappointed when it was not. I wanted to be able to compare how long it took me to get a specific destination using different routes. I know that you can see a weeks worth of driving time, but being able to split it up by individual trip would be a natural fit with distance and milage, and would be awesomely helpful in determining the best way to get to a destination!

Great idea, and one that is definitely shared among some of our team here. We're actively working on something like this. Stay tuned!

Hi.  I found this thread while searching for a similar question.  And I wondered if there have been any developments on this topic over the past two years.

I ask for the following reason: there are two distinct ways to get home from a certain point on my drive.  They are both about the same in distance, but both have multiple stoplights.  I'd like to see if there's a way (through IFTTT, if necessary), to automatically record every time I go from point A to point B, and to time the drive using Route 1 vs Route 2, and put that data somewhere.  That way, over time, I'd likely have 50 iterations of Route 1 and 50 of Route 2, and I can see which one, on average, is faster.

You can use IFTTT to log your trips to a spreadsheet and you should be able to have that trigger based on leaving a particular location. Once in the spreadsheet, it might be possible to sort the trips based on the route. I'd give it a try and see what you come up with. The other alternative is to use the Web Dashboard - select a set of trips from a chosen period of time in which you used route 1 and export those to a spreadsheet. Then select the trips in which you used route 2 and export those. Then compare the average time each set took.

Thank you for the prompt reply.  Your solutions sound like a good start, and I'm already logging my trips in IFTTT.  I think the complicating factor is that the two routes are only part of a trip, not the entire trip.  So, for example, I drive home 80% of the route the same way.  When I'm at that last point (20% from home), I can take route A or route B, and I'd like to know - over time - whether one choice is better than the other.

So, I guess what I'm asking is if there's a way to enter the coordinates for that point (at 80% through the trip) into the system somehow, so it makes a special record from that point until I get home.  (Like through geofencing?)  Then I could download just that portion of the trip and analyze it.

Now that I've actually written it out, it might be way more complicated than I had originally thought.  So, I guess instead of asking if this is something that can currently be done, maybe it's more of a question if something like this could be added in the future.  In other words, it would be nice to designate two points on the globe, and whenever you drive from the first one to the second, it records the stats of the trip and lets you compare different routes.  This would be great for those of us who are quants and who have very long commutes with many many different possibilities.  You can time it manually, but you end up just not doing that every single time.

Hi, Brad. I think the geofencing based trigger in our IFTTT integration would allow you to do this. But I admit, I don't really use IFTTT much myself and haven't tried it.
