I have a second gen Automatic. I don't use it for mileage or trip monitoring; my main concern is crash detection and notification to emergency responders if my bluetooth is off. Will the crash detection work without bluetooth? Will I still receive a call from Automatic via my cell phone number, and will emergency responders be notified if I don't answer the call?

Hi. The 2nd gen adapter relies on an active Bluetooth connection between it and your phone for Crash Alert to function. What happens is that if the accelerometer in the adapter detects a velocity change that meets or surpasses our threshold, the alert is triggered. This information is sent to your phone via Bluetooth which then sends it to our servers via your phone's cellular connection. The signal is also received by our monitoring center who then calls your phone. If you don't pick up, they automatically send emergency services and call your emergency contacts. If you do pick up, they ask if you need help and then take the next steps.
