Create a "connected car" environment for Automatic

I just received mine today and have only paired with the app. setup was pretty simple, but it did require a few tries.

I'll post more after I use it a bit.

I would like to see an ecosystem built around the product and the app. interface with other apps / services to show me who has the cheapest gas, remind me to get the oil changed, allow me to configure my mechanic (include a link to his website so I can make the appointment when the reminder pops), interface with the MPG trackers out there (I am using GasMPG) to validate mileage or share data.

the whole approach would be like the current ecosystem around health apps like runkeeper, myfitnesspal, fitbit, withings scales, heart rate monitors, etc. these apps share data and each helps the other. they enhance each other.

Hey John,

This is a great approach to take. The whole "connected car" space is a new and exciting realm-- being an early adopter is both a blessing and a curse, because that ecosystem doesn't exist yet, but you'll get a lot of input into what it looks like!

I hope you enjoy Automatic and look forward to hearing your feedback + feature requests-- we're working hard to deliver the best possible experience for everyone.

If you're inclined to mess with things on your own, take a look at IFTTT and Google Apps to "roll your own" automation.  I now have all drives logged to a Google Calendar - just as a "wonder if I can pull this off" exercise.
