On the Pro model, do you get notified when the device has been removed. for example you are your are using it to track your kids, they get someplace, take it out then go someplace else, would you be notified that it was removed? Not having this feature would seem to defeat at least one of the main reasons I am considering buying it.

Hi Jay,

The Automatic Pro is only powered on when it is plugged in and the vehicle is turned on; it doesn't have its own power supply. For that reason, it doesn't have the ability to notify you if it is unplugged.

Couldn't this be accomplished by automatic noting that a device hasn't checked in recently?

Example - give users the ability to set a timeout of 8+ hours on weekdays and 12+ hours on weekends.

If automatic hasn't heard from a device by the threshold, send a push notification/email.

Hi Greg,

That may be possible, but if you're worried about a single trip, someone could unplug the adapter before starting the car, go to wherever and drive back. As long as they plug it back in before the car is started again the adapter would never know it was unplugged. The adapter doesn't remain disconnected if it was unplugged and then plugged back in.

Yeah.  Let just add a small battery back up to the next model?  Just enough to send a notice that it was unplugged? I'd upgrade for it. =)

I think that's a better plan, we shall see what happens!
