Feature Request. The pro adapter needs to have a notification or indication in the app that the adapter has been disconnected and or reconnected. I don't want my teen pulling this device in and out to avoid tracking.

  • ...a bit concerned that my teen may learn where the adapter is located.

Thanks for the feedback, Scott. There is a disconnect/reconnect indication which pertains to losing cellular connection. What you're asking for is an "unplug / replug" notification. I'm going to edit your topic title to indicate that as I know there are others who'd like to see this functionality as well.

It doesn't even need to be a notification. If the app shows an event like "your adapter was replugged...just sayi n". As a user, I'll know if it was unplugged on purpose or accident. I've relayed your product to a few friends at work with teen drivers (one purchased immediately). The included 3G is a phenomenal selling point at the product price. However, at the time I recommend I wasn't aware of it could be removed and replaced undetected if the car was off. I'm hoping this feature is high on the priority list or is mentioned in a scrum that it's important :-) Do you add features based on the number of votes or difficulty of development?

Thanks for the additional feedback, Scott. I've shared it with the Product team

There is a lot that goes into features getting built. Yes, the volume of user desire is considered when planning our product roadmap, but so are business goals, resources, ease or difficulty, and technical constraints among other things. This FAQ provides some insight on how we use this community. We don't promise features and we don't publish ETAs. We've learned how easy it is for that to come back to bite us.

So did you add the unplug/replug indication to the device?

No. When we add new features and functionality, we announce those here in the community as official Announcements and they're included in the updates about app releases that you'll see in the list of Announcement posts.

How would I know if it was unplugged

Hi Jamie,

The Automatic Pro adapter doesn't have the ability to notify you if it's unplugged because it is only powered on when it is plugged in and the vehicle's ignition is on.
