I love Automatic but at my age (87) eyesight is limited. When I go to see the trips taken the type is so faded and small that I must use a magnifying glass to read. Same when I try to view the map.

All the fun of seeing how my cars are doing is gone. Automatic needs to automatically giver me a choice to increase font size and contrast of the printed word.

So my son of only 64 years tried to find a fix but alas there is none that we know of. Is there an answer?

Hey Robert,

Thanks for reaching out and welcome to the Automatic Community!

Unfortunately, at this time, changing the size and contrast of fonts is not reflected within the trip list. This is a problem our team is aware of, and it will be addressed in the next major update of the app. There isn't an official ETA on when it will be released, but it is planned for this year.

I will pass along your feedback to see if anything can be expedited for the time being, but unfortunately, changes like this can affect other pieces of the product and may break the current design making it difficult to do.

Again, we apologize for the inconvenience here.

Hi Robert. I just wanted to say that I'm a few decades younger than you and I have the same problem. I've just started needing reading glasses in the last couple of years and I can't see the dates under each trip detail on my phone without my glasses on. And even then I can just barely make it out. So I feel your pain with this! And as Jeff said, the design team is aware of it.

One thing to try is to check your trip data on the web dashboard. You may find that easier to see. Some of the font still doesn't have a lot of contrast, but at least you can control the size. Plus you can do a lot more with different views there so it's pretty neat.

Thank you for being an Automatic customer!

If you are using an iPhone, you can go into Accessibility settings and adjust the font size to a larger size. I am unsure if this applies for every app or just system/core apps (text messages, email, phone dialer, etc) as I use an Android smartphone primarily. But it could be worth checking out.

Thanks for chiming in, Chris.

At this time, the fonts outside of the map on the trip list view will not change despite making adjustments to the font size in the phone's settings. This is a design limitation, but as mentioned, it will be addressed in the next version of the app.

Can you just change the layout for the date?
FRI
Dec 23
That will easily fit below the time in a larger text size. There's no need to hide it, I find the date to be very relevant information.

I now see that you have a new app for newer devices. Does that mean you will not be making any changes to the original app? Or will the new app eventually support the 1st gen product?

Hi millerama. We had originally hoped to have the new app work with all adapters. However, as the new app was built from the ground up, the team ran into technical blockers and time limitations with trying to get it to work with the older hardware. Unfortunately, there's no plan for getting the new app to work with the first and second gen adapters. We have some posts here in the community about that.

Our plans for supporting Automatic (2nd gen)

Gen 1 Adapter Update
