Do you have to open the Automatic app every time your phone dies?

Has there been any thought of the app automatically starting up when the phone is turned back on after it dies or being restarted? I have our Automatic in my wife's car since diesel vehicles are not supported but I cannot guarantee she will start up the app every time her phone dies (happens more than I would like to admit).

Hi Adam! Thanks for the idea. Right now, the iOS app does not send a notification when you restart your phone or when your phone dies. The app should still work as long as it's running in the background, but we do recommend that you launch it every so often to ensure that it's running. The Android app automatically starts when the system boots up again.

Is your wife experiencing some missed trips? If so, feel free to send a message to tech support at help@automatic.com and they can look into whether it's a result of the app not running. Be sure to send it from or mention the email address associated with her Automatic account.

Hi there, Adam. We've changed the status of this idea to "planned" as we're planning to implement a solution for this problem. Stay tuned :)

Mine automatically works as soon as my phone connects to my car via BT. I use iOS.
