Allow us to log fuel data if the vehicle isn't supported. And/Or link to Gas Cubby. I've been using their service for 5 years to track fuel consumption and repairs.

Your estimator just doesn't seem to do well in my 2001 Golf GTI. It seems to be off by 25-50% on the cost.

Hey Ryan,

Thanks for reaching out and for your feedback!

This is definitely something we are aware of being a pain-point for cars that are unsupported for fuel reporting. It isn't supported for roughly 50 percent of cars on the road and this number, unfortunately, is only growing.

Our team is starting to think of ways to nip this in the bud. We are currently working on developing the next major update to the Automatic application and a feature like this has the potential to be built in due to the growing need.

As for the issues with your reported MPGs, could you please contact help@automatic.com? Our tech support team will be able to evaluate your data and share it with our team so they can investigate what is going on here.

Thanks again, Ryan.

You don't have to do much - just allow entry of a few things... Odometer, Fuel Type, Cost.

The issue is also the gas average for 91+ is about $2.30+ in Minnesota. According to my fuel totals and miles driven I'm getting 22-23mpg and Automatic is guessing that I'm getting 26-35mpg in a turbo.

So 387 miles two weeks ago says $33 in fuel (actually more than $40) and 28.9mpg (actually 21).

I will reach out to them.

Hi Ryan, head of product here. Thanks for the input, and we're right there with you.
The next app will allow you to manually log fill ups to keep an accurate record of them. ☺
Per trip costing is going to be slightly longer path for us to improve, but I agree we should at some point.  There's just a lot to build and we're trying to get it all out to you asap.

Cheers,
Adam

Stop sending what?

David - I would suggest Gas Cubby. I have used it for the last 4.5 years.

Good suggestion, unfortunately, I don't play in the Apple ecosystem.

It's apparently now owned by Fuelly which has an Android application.

I am giving serious consideration to writing my own application that WILL use the Automatic API that will do this for people.

Looks like it's more of a web app interface but still - it's there.

I appreciate it, but it's way off... As mentioned I'm emailing the data to you now. Writing it up takes a bit with the math and all.

Exactly. Beckie - you've posted "stop sending" on several posts in this community now. You only need post your message once.

This community is hosted on a 3rd party platform and you are in control of which email notifications you get or don't get. We have no way of controlling that for you. As Ryan pointed out, you can click the "un-follow" button at the top of the page on any topic you're following. If you want to never receive email notifications from the community ever, you can adjust that in your profile settings.

Here's a knowledgebase article from Get Satisfaction's website about managing your notifications.
