Add the car VIN, license plate and renewal date to the Automatic profile. Use it to link an Automatic to it's car profile. Track when the DMV sends out Smog Notification and notify your Automatic user on the best places to get their car smog checked. Only refer to top rated Yelp smog shops (not all regions smog so this is more marketing than sales). Car smog guy pulled ours out and didn't plug it back in and had no idea what it was (add branding & QR code). Get Car Smog Test Stations to add it as a plug-in option they can sell. Better yet get the Bay Area Air Quality board to help spread the word on how Automatic's reporting feature Spares the Air. Show how Automatic is saving Green House Gas, etc. and every season when there is a spare the air day run a promo on how Automatic makes it easier for everyone to breathe.

Great ideas, Stephen. I like your thoughts on messaging around Spare the Air days.

We're definitely already doing a lot of thinking about more tools for car maintenance

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Add Smog Levels.

Smog output is just as important as fuel economy to the environment.  The OBD-II port has access to smog information, and adding the amount of smog output so that we could better understand our carbon footprint as a result of driving would be a very valuable addition to the dashboard and the app.

Thanks for the idea, Michael. I merged your post into this related idea topic on adding car smog data to the app (which is currently under consideration).
