The packaging for 2nd generation Automatic adapters will include the label “2nd Generation” at the bottom of the plastic shrink wrap. If, however, you’ve discarded the packaging, you can determine that you have a 2nd generation adapter by looking at the PIN on the back of the adapter. 2nd generation adapter PINs are alphanumeric (letters and numbers). If you own a 1st generation adapter, the PIN will only be comprised of numbers.
