How does after market tires (Oversized) effect the mpg calculations?

I have oversize tires on my truck. As a result of that my speedometer is not registering my correct speed. My truck's computer registers it at about 3-5% lower than actual GPS speed.
I am wondering how Automatic currently calculates speed or distance traveled (to come up with MPG)? It is reading my speed from my trucks computer? Or does it use my phones GPS to calculate distance traveled?

If it is using my computer to calculate mpg then will future updates include a way to adjust this?

Love what I see so far, but even more excited about what is to come.

Hi David. It's reading it from your truck's computer so yes, your oversize tires will affect your MPG readings on the Automatic app as well because the vehicle distance travelled will be different than actual distance.

Not sure about future updates accounting for that. It would have to be some kind of manual input.

Glad you're loving it! :)
