iOS Classic app for my Gen 2 has been crashing and freezing

The iOS Classic app for my Gen 2 adapter has been crashing and freezing pretty consistently for the past few months--to the point where it is pretty rare that I can even open it at all! It seems to coincide with whichever iOS bug people are also complaining about that auto-launches the app when it connects to Bluetooth. I have a 128G iPhone 6S running iOS 10.3.3.

When I turn the car on, the app autolaunches and I lose control of the phone until the app inevitably crashes. I usually cannot get the app to connect when I am outside of the car not driving either (not on data, not on wifi). Restarting the phone, toggling the Bluetooth, toggling the wifi, killing other running apps--none of this seems to help.

The adapter does seem to be recording all of my trip data just fine. I can see it when I log into dashboard and on the rare occasion that I can successfully get the app to actually stay open.
