iPhone X and Automatic 2nd gen - error prompt over and over again on trying to connect

I have had Automatic 2nd Gen for a few years now and worked with 2 different cars and iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus. When I switched from iPhone 6S to 6S Plus, I simply open the Automatic app and run through the setup again under "Re-connect".

I recently obtained an iPhone X and as usual, trying to get to re-connect the adapter with my iPhone X. However, I got this problem:

1). Unplug Automatic from my car
2). Opened Automatic app and click on "Re-connect"
3). Following the app prompt, connect the Automatic adapter to my car
4). The app automatically moved on to the next step and asked me to add Automatic to the iPhone Bluetooth (Settings --> Bluetooth)
5). Automatic adapter automatically paired with my iPhone
6). In the Automatic app, I got an error saying the adapter is disconnected (?!) (see attached picture). At this point, Bluetooth still showing that Automatic adapter IS CONNECTED to my iPhone
7). I unplugged the automatic adapter and the app goes to step 4
8). Once connected, the app still give the same error 

The most bizarre thing: at step 8, tapping "Got it!" (see picture) still bring the error prompt over and over again. I tapped "Got it", the error prompt show up again. It's never ending and I had to kill the app.

Can someone from Automatic helped me on this? Is this an issue of the app not being compatible with iPhone X, the Bluetooth radio or something else?

Hi all,

We've been keeping an eye on iPhone X issues ever since it got released and I wanted to give an update to any affected users. We know this has been frustrating, especially as some of you have been with us for a good while now. In the interest of transparency, I'd like to detail a bit more about what's going on.

It's looking like the iPhone X and the iPhone 8 are not compatible with the 1st & 2nd Gen adapters and Automatic Classic. The Bluetooth connected versions of our product were designed to work with the latest and greatest technology at the time that they were released, and have received several firmware updates to stay up to date. Unfortunately, there's only far they can go with software and firmware. The hardware itself has limitations and it appears that the Bluetooth connected adapters have reached their limit with the iPhone X. 

Bluetooth connectivity has always been our Achilles' heel. There's a reason why Automatic Pro doesn't use Bluetooth to stay constantly connected to the phone. The best way we've found to handle Bluetooth connectivity is to use 3G instead. :) We've been working with Bluetooth since day 1. If there were an easy way to solve it we would have certainly done it by now. 

Because Automatic Classic will not be receiving any updates for the iPhone X, we'd like to invite you to the future of Automatic. Our Pro adapter doesn't need a connected phone in order to function like the Bluetooth adapters do, we envision future products continuing on this path. This also makes them much more future proof as we don't have to be at the whim of the Bluetooth stack of a smartphone manufacturer in order to function.
