Is data available for accident reconstruction?

Is it possible that the Automatic Pro records sudden acceleration in relation to an auto accident? I was recently involved in a rear end collision, I shared some data from Automatic with the accident investigator and he asked if additional data was available. He indicated that the evidence showed I was hit directly from the rear as I stated. The other driver states that I cut him off and he struck me from the side. A full rear end collision would project me forward and show sudden acceleration. A side impact would not show any acceleration. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks and have a great day.Rick Davis[PII REMOVED]

I am not certain about the Automatic Pro as I have a Gen 2, but your dongle may have recorded a hard brake or hard acceleration in the logs. I confirmed with the Automatic team on Twitter that hard brakes are logged based on the accelerometer in the dongle, so I imagine hard acceleration would be too.

In my instance, I was driving at about 40mph and drove through a giant puddle, which caused my car to slow down without me ever touching the brakes. Automatic does not determine if the brake pedal is pressed, only that there was a sudden slow down.

Again, I have a Gen 2, but I can see on the route map for my trip where the hard brake/acceleration took place. Not sure if the Pro has that feature or not.

Thanks for chiming in, Rob. And Rob's right about how we get that data. And even if you have a Pro, there will be data about hard accelerations and brakes in your Web Dashboard. But it sounds like you need to get some speed data from the time of the accident, roodavis. I'm going to export your post into our helpdesk system so we can email you to discuss this further and get some more info from you. I'm also going to delete your phone number from your post as this is a public community & I want to protect your privacy! :)
