It would be wonderful to share my current location, when on a trip, with a family member. Sharing location maybe optional. The way Uber does with taxis.

Why is it good to share to share your location .. We don't want everybody knowing everything

If you use Google+ you can share locations. You can also use Glympse to send your location via text. Once sent it updates dynamically. My text app will automatically reply with a Glympse when in driving mode. I'm using Android.

Hi Abilhash. You won't be able to share your constant real-time location via Automatic & IFTTT, but you can share ignition on / ignition off events w/ location based data. See our IFTTT page for some Recipe suggestions.

As stated above Automatic and IFTTT only happen at events (ignition on/off for example). There are other ways (apps) to do what you want. Ham radio people do it over the airwaves with APRS beaconing their positions to others in the ham community or to the Internet. In our troop we use an App called Life360 that does a similar function without the need of a ham radio . In it you can set up "circles" (people you authorized) to view or send position & messages. It's designed for families to do this within the app or on their password protected website login.

In the troop I have a "circle" for the troop in which I add the drivers to, the day of the Campout and then remove them after the Campout when we all get back. This way all the drivers know where all the other drivers are (well their shotgun passenger) and can send messages to the group or a particular person (again a rider not the driver if they are moving).
