It would be sweet if the app could tell me where the cheapest gas is in my area

If you could set it up so users could report the gas prices they are getting and based on the gps that information could be available to all then it would build a larger sense of community and provide more value to the device

Hi Art,

So you're suggesting a crowd-sourced fuel price comparison? Thanks for the suggestion!

I think the main point can also be accomplished with your gas price source to make it available to customers through the application so that we know real-time where the cheapest gas in 5 miles is.

Hmmm... that's an interesting idea and at first blush seems a lot easier to pull off than crowd-sourcing it.

There are well established apps for what you're suggesting. GasBuddy is probably the most broadly used crowd sourced gas price reporting app.

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Gasoline price.

Could you integrate the app with some gas pricing functionality? Would you be nice to see, is, (no matter the source; OPIS, GasBuddy or others) when you get the notification you are about to run out of gas, the option of see the nearest gas stations, and their pricing. Maybe even a shortcut to the cheapest that you can reach (you have calculated how many miles left in the tank, so you should be able to see which ones are within reach, no?).

The ability to contribute to a crowd source as well (I saw the idea already posted) is a good one. Either contributing to yours (automatic's own brew) or perhaps better, integrating with Waze (for navigation AND gas prices) or Gas Buddy can also be an idea. Waze may be a nicer idea as you can then partner with a navigation provider, and they can leverage a partner that promotes better driving habits. Just a thought.

Anyhow, the main idea is to provide the info to the driver, the ability to submit would be a second nice to have.

Cheers and keep up the good work!

Thanks for the gas price ideas, El Barouf. I went ahead and merged your post into a related gas price idea topic, so we can efficiently keep track of this feature request. While we don't have plans for a crowd-sourced fuel price feature, we are planning to add manual fuel price entry in a future update. Here's the related idea topic on manual fuel price entry

As for an integration with another app/service such as GasBuddy, this is something that's currently under consideration. Here's a link to a topic specifically about GasBuddy, but if you're interested in seeing a specific app integrated with Automatic, be sure to let their developers know about our platform and API :) Here's more info on our platform.

Waze would be nice, but being owned by Google....

I guess we'll just add one more vote in the suggestion box.
