When I have my iPhone docked in my car, I normally keep it in landscape (side-to-side) orientation. The Automatic app doesn't seem to support anything other than portrait mode (and only right-side up). It would be nice if it supported rotation.

Hi Windracer,

It isn't currently designed for landscape, but that may be something we look in to for subsequent app updates.

Thanks!

Ya I heard that same response a year ago... The new update didn't do crap for me because my 2012 Audi apparently isn't new enough to have the gas read out function lol. With out landscape support this app is kind of crappy, I mean there is really no actual extra work you really have to do to include the option when creating the app. I find it funny and almost lazy at this point that they cant include it...

Two (2) YEARS ago you said you'd look into landscape mode on the iPhone. TWO (2) YEARS ago!

Hi SkwrHdz. Other development has taken priority over landscape support, but it's still a possibility for the future. To learn more about the various statuses on topics here in the community, check out this FAQ.

Landscape/iPad compatibility?.

Hello I wanted to first say thanks for making an excellent product! My only concern would be if you could make a iPad compatible version that works in landscape mode? I know I'm probably in the minority here, but I have my iPad mini installed in my dash while I drive, and this app gives me so much useful info that I could use and it would feel very much more integrated to my car ecosystem as a whole. I'm sure it wouldn't be that hard since most apps can switch to a landscape mode right? I really hope you guys can get it to work! Thanks in advance you guys rock!

I still think having a "dashboard" in landscape mode would be a nice addition to the app. In landscape mode you'd see what you see now, but rotated into portrait mode could show the current drive score, MPG, speed, compass direction, etc.

ipad or universal app, having it locked in to portrait iphone mode is a sin, and it's not hard to fix, come on folks! You're finally past version 1.0!

Hi Thomas! The app currently isn't designed for landscape mode, but we're considering it! See above posts for more info.

Thanks for chiming in Michael. We don't officially support iPads at the moment, but some folks have had success in using them. See this discussion for more details.

Hi Ross,

Thanks for chiming in and for your feedback regarding this matter.

iPad support is something still under consideration, but at this time our team is focused on developing both our iOS and Android applications in the necessary areas. Once there are resources available to develop on other platforms, like tablets, we will revisit the development of Automatic elsewhere.

As for landscape support, this is still under consideration. We are currently working on a new version of Automatic, and this is a feature that has been discussed.

Thanks again!

Just pointing out that the FAQ for AutoDash says that landscape support would be coming with app version 1.1, which didn't happen.

I just checked in with our Android dev who built Autodash. He'd hoped to build out landscape support but was unable to as he was pulled onto other projects and we no longer have the resources to pursue that at this time. He just had us update the FAQ to reflect reality. So sorry for the change of course & disappointment with that! But thanks for bringing that to our attention.

I sure hope so! I'm sure once we have more resources down the road and our Android team has the bandwidth, we can put some more TLC into Autodash.
