Manual Trip Entry When Missing

I'd like to manually enter a trip when the automatic link failed to wake up the app on my phone. I'm using this to automatically track my trips for work, but it's not getting all of them. If I could just manually enter the missing ones, then that issue will be resolved for me. Thanks

Hi there, Jason. We've marked this idea as "not planned" but not because we don't think it's a valid concern. Instead, we're working on an update that will address this problem in a more effective way. Stay tuned :)

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled missing trips in dashboard.

I'd like automatic dashboard to also show the odometer readings and indicate where trips have been made that were not logged. I've had trips that are missing either because the automatic app failed or because someone else drove my vehicle.

Also, it would be nice to be able to enter common trip tasks that could either be manually tagged or automatically tagged based upon the endpoints and approximate trip length.

Welcome to the community jamanjeval and thanks for sharing this idea. We don't have any current plans to develop a manual trip entry functionality, but we are planning to address this problem in a more effective way. There's no ETA at the moment for the solution, so stay tuned.

Thanks for the trip tagging suggestion. This idea is currently under consideration. To read more about it, check out this related discussion. Here's a link to a related discussion on an odometer feature as well.

If you would like tech support to investigate the cause of your missed trips, please email help@automatic.com and they'll get review your account. Be sure to send your message from the email address tied to your Automatic account. Thanks!

I'm another user who would like to manually input a trip. I occasionally have connection issues, most caused by iOS issues on a particular phone, and it would sure be helpful to be able to add the missed trips.

I finally figured out the reason my automatic stopped working. The fuse for the OBD connector in my car had blown. This means the Automatic had zero chance to record a handful of trips no matter how flawless the software is built. Being able to manually enter those trips in during this outage would keep my process smooth and in one area.

For others needing manual entry until that feature is available within the Automatic dashboard what I'm doing is using IFTTT to connect to a Google Spreadsheet. There I can manually enter trips and use that as my system of record. It's an ok solution in the interim. It introduces more connections / places for data error so I'd still rather make Automatic my SOR.
