I am new to Automatic. But the vehicle position is very slow to respond to actual position on the moving map. It can lag behind as much as 1/4 mile or more depending on speed, etc.. It will finally catch up to your position when you stop, but using it as any type of navigator is not possible, at least on my installation. I am WAY past a road when the vehicle position shows it. No where as responsive as say Google or Waze. Is there a problem with my settings? This is a brand new installation.

Hi Richard, I'll ask the engineers about the lag, however, Automatic is not intended to be used as a navigation app. The real-time tracking is really more for the benefit of someone not in the car -- either because they're logged into that account from another location or because the driver has shared the location tracking with someone so they have a general sense of the driver's progress toward a destination. Think of it more as analogous to the "Find Friends" app or similar people-locating apps.

Hi Richard, An engineer confirmed what I suspected. Google and Waze get your position directly from the phone hence it is in sync. The map in the app is getting the location from the adapter (via the cloud) so that you can do things like track your vehicle when you (and the phone) are not in it. It's designed for a very different use case and should not be expected to act like a navigator.

Thanks! That was what I kind of suspected, but wanted to be sure I did not have a problem.
