Would really love to see iFTTT rules support for maps applications like Waze, Google Maps and Apple Maps. I want to create a rule around time, geofenced location and ignition and automatically open a maps app that has routes and destinations preloaded for optimal routing

That's a great idea! We've looked into the possibility of offering this ourselves but we don't have any definite plans to do so. I don't believe IFTTT offers the level of integration you're looking for just yet, maybe check into contacting them as well with this request. https://ifttt.com/contact

Ok how about just being able to open the maps app? I get that doing the in app rules will require more integration but if could even open the app that streamlines the process already

Sorry about the delayed response Samir. Unfortunately both Google and Apple don't provide that level of integration either. We can't create a custom route and have that display in the maps app. What we can do is recommend one of the routes that the maps service generates on its own. We'd rather leave the route planning itself to the professionals. :) We do have some ideas floating around that can give you a lot more data about your general commute. There's a lot of stuff we can do with all of this data, it's a matter of what to work on and when. Stay tuned!

understood, thank you. Could an IFTTT rule just to open the maps app based on Automatic events be made available atleast. Waze or Google Maps would be best

You'd have to talk to IFTTT about that. We can only give them what our API is capable of. Any apps that can be triggered with IFTTT will have to have their own channel on IFTTT.

Hi Samir! We've marked this idea as "implemented" as there are several IFTTT recipes that now allow for launch specific apps such as Waze. Check out this one that works with Pushbullet, for example.

Just wanted to chime in that you can sort of do this using PushBullet as a bridge. However, if you're using an Android device and tasker, this can probably be done.

EDIT: Just read Tom's comment and noticed he already shared the link, however, full automation can still be done with Tasker by having Tasker launch an action when a notification appears.

I just want a recipe so that when I turn on either waze or Google maps navigation that it automatically opens my Pandora so Ican just start driving.

Hey Tyler. If you also use Launch Center Pro, this recipe might fit the bill.

Tyler, just use tasker. IFTTT is more web application and services than phone functions; Tasker is the inverse of that. You can easily set a task up so that when one app opens, it launches another. However, I'm not sure that'll give you the best experience. I'd suggest adding a "wait" command (will make sense if you look at Tasker) before launching Pandora so you can get done whatever it is you need to get done in Waze or Maps first. Hope that helps.
