Mileage Maintenance Reminders

Tires should rotated every 6,000 to 8,000 miles; Oil should be changed every 3,000 miles; Tune up should be 30,000 miles.

What if the Automatic app would alert its users with a notification for these mileage milestones? It For instance: New tires put on car at 100,000 miles when you hit 106,000 you get an alert to rotate them.

Well, 3000 mile oil change is a myth perpetrated by the oil change industry. Every car has it's own service intervals. My last car specified 15000 miles and I ran low-profile sport tires that I changed every 20k or so. It would be nice to be able to enter in these reminders yourself though.

Steve, glad we can agree on one thing: Mileage reminders would be a welcomed addition to the Automatic ecosystem.

Thanks for the suggestion, Ben. I've merged Angelo's post in here as well to consolidate the tracking of this feature request for the new app.

Automatic has gotten better. In fact, I recently just started using it again, now that some of the alerts/warnings are configurable.

16 May 2017: Came here looking for this exact capability. Other threads seem to indicate that Automatic does not obtain mileage info from the OBD port, and thus this idea cannot be implemented. Hope that's not true!

Unfortunately, it is true, Bob. I just responded to your reply in the other thread.

Amy,

Would it not be possible to at least estimate the amount of mileage put on the car?

Where the user would enter their current mileage then the app (which already tracks the length of trips) adds each trip to the entered value.

You could probably make code to do this and dove tail it with maitenance I suggested.

I've seen competitors already offering the exact thing I suggested in my original post. A work around needs to be found-- I'm sure the exec. team wouldn't wanna lose business over this. I'm a salesman by trade so I know about selling on features. Why not add another one to the list-- make it easier on your sales staff and increase market share?

Thanks for your additional input, Ben. The business and product teams are very aware of this particular request and we'd certainly like to offer this down the road. However, it's not as simple as one might think. Our Head of Product, Adam, explains why here.
