I'm just now installing the module in my 2014 Acura RDX and it seems like things are fine but there was one weird issue with the install. There was already this black module that plugged into the port and I had to replace that with the Automatic one.
I guess I'm wondering if that module was needed and if I'm going to run into issues by replacing something looks like it was there from the factory.

Maybe ask a dealers service department what that is?

Hi there, Dennis! Welcome to Automatic and to the community. I checked with our in-house technician about this, and it's not "standard" for a device to be plugged into the port, so it was likely placed there by someone. As soccer cat mentioned above, I would check with your dealer's service department or the party that you purchased the vehicle from to determine what the device is/was for.
