MPG in automatic closely matches what the car reports.

I now have two tanks worth of data comparing drives in as reported by Automatic to the mileage reported by the car. I have a new Volvo, and it has really detailed fuel economy reporting.

The data reported by Automatic is slightly lower than the car. Since I don't buy fuel at midnight on Sunday, I can only compare individual trips to the car, and only have two significant digits, but the Automatic is consistently 1 MPG lower than the car. (Which would be <5%)

Unfortunately, comparing the car to reality is not such a pretty picture. The car is optimistic by about 10%.

Just a data point. :)

A bit, yeah. It's certainly encouraging me to spend more time on cruise control. :)
