I have been using it for a month now and am pleased with it. I look at it as a trigger/self-regulation tool. It helps me be more aware of hard braking - didn't realize that beyond the obvious hard braking, I still needed to improve till I got automatic. Another useful feedback for me has been the logging of time I spend driving every week - again, made me more aware of choices I could make as to when to commute (yes, some of us are 'space cadets!')

Lastly, not knowing how it calculates gas prices, I have been focusing more on the mpg - my Mazda Miata from day 1 has been telling me I get 27.6 mpg and with automatic, I noticed how I fluctuate between 30-32.7 mpg. Note when I started using automatic in week 1, my mpg was 28.7 so, I give automatic the credit for the almost 3.5 mpg increase in fuel efficiency

Automatic also provides audible feedback something that makes me acutely aware of my driving. There is no need for apps to keep track of calories consumed - pencil and paper can do that and if one has the discipline to do that, maybe they would not get much out of automatic

Installation is a breeze. It took 2 resets - removing and reinserting within the first couple of days to get the app to recognize the device. Since then, has been working flawlessly. The app itself leaves a ton to be much data as the unit has access to from the onboard computer, it is pathetic as to why it only reports a handful of variables. I would gladly pay a monthly fee to have more info such as oil life, tire pressure, idling time, etc

Another glaring missing feature - no web interface to your account! Seriously automatic?!

A fine feature that I have not had the opportunity to use and hope I never have to is automatic SMS alerts to 3 contacts - crash alerts (beta). When you enter the contacts, be aware that it does send a notification to them but, no email confirmation to you

Automatic also allows you to set up multiple cars/units with one app so, if you are a lucky enough person to have a weekday car and a weekend cruiser...

Overall, I give it a B+ and given that any enhancements needed are primarily software based (app), I have hopes for it. Hopefully, automatic provides its api/interface to 3rd party developers that can create/sell apps...are you listening automatic??

Ditto on the app. That is a huge let down for $99. You can get a $2 app that dings when you exceed a speed that you can configure and calculates your gas mileage. There's got to be more.

Don't forget about our Check Engine Light feature! :) We've also got a channel on IFTTT that allows you to run all kinds of cool recipes to extract data and trigger other events.

And we do have an API. :) We actually sponsored a Wearables / Internet of Things Hackathon this past weekend where teams built all kinds of cool things on our platform.

But we agree -- there is much more we can do and we will. The current app is just the beginning. Lots of cool new features - including a web view - are in the works. You can peruse the "planned" and "under consideration" Idea topics here in the community to get an idea of some of the things we're working on and thinking about.

We'd love to have you both on board! Email and say you were interested in testing for us. We call it our alpha program but the general experience is the same.

Hi there, Pino. I wanted to let you know that we now have both an API and a web dashboard! For this reason, we've changed the status of this idea to "implemented."

Thanks again for sharing your review with us.
