We're curious to know what you've done with it so far. We've made some recipes as a start, we definitely sent to see where our users take it!

Hey Ani!

I've tested out a couple of them:

* Log trips to a Google Spreadsheet
* Save CSV export to Dropbox (like that it stores links to start/end location + static map with polyline)
* Turn on my house lights (Hue)
* Text my wife when I get home (even though she can hear my car pull in the garage. ha)
* Text my parents (I am going to create a variation of that myself for some custom messaging)

Those were the first few I played with! I've been using the Automatic API and connecting with things myself, but I also think IFTTT provides great value for different tasks.

How did you setup your recipes so that it texts others?

I'm new to IFTTT and I can only figure out how to text myself... Only way to let others know is linking it with my gmail and sending them an email.

Thanks

Hey Mario,
I did the SMS through two different ways:

* Directly with the Automatic API and Twilio (SMS service)
* Through IFTTT. A limitation of IFTTT's SMS service is that it's tied to a single phone number. You have to re-activate their SMS channel and confirm a PIN with the new phone number.

Take a look and let me know if you have any questions or need help!

Peace,
Nate

I'd love to know how you are doing this with the API and Twilio.

I'd love to hear how too! I'm sure we have other users that are interested as well. Keep us posted!

Hey Mario and Ani,
I went ahead and pushed some of my sample code to github: https://github.com/nateklaiber/automa...

It's not production code, but allowed me to test the SMS and Hue integrations.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks,
Nate

Howdy all -

New user here and so excited to get a unit for each member of the family. How do we work with IFTTT? Where do we go to setup, find out about it etc.?

Hi there, Karl! Welcome to Automatic :)

The first step in using IFTTT with Automatic is to create an IFTTT account on their website. Once you do that and you're logged in, head over to our channel and connect your Automatic account. Once you do that, you'll see a list of the recipes available to use.

One of the more widely used recipes is our Google Spreadsheet/trip logging recipe. Check out this discussion for a breakdown of what each column in the doc represents.

Hope this helps and again, welcome.
