It would be nice if you can integrate a trigger in IFTTT notifying you when your car is low on gas.

An expansion of this idea would be to log fuel levels to a google spreadsheet. This would allow you to remotely check how much gas you had in your car at the end of the last trip. If you had this information in the spreadsheet you could check the night before to see if you have enough gas for your drive to work, road trip, or whatever. Knowing this without having to actually go out to your car can allow you to plan accordingly for the day ahead.

Great idea! Not all cars support the fuel level feature but we do plan on implementing more features around the ones that do in the future. Check out this topic for more details: Once we start working on the feature in the app, we'll be able to discuss an IFTTT trigger. We're just getting started! :)

I would really like this, so I can get an email about low fuel. I know the iOS app can receive a push notification, but I would also like an email since it push notifications can be easy to miss.

Dear Automatic support team,
GAS BUDDY. Seems like this feature is being ignored but Zubie has "IF low fuel, then open Gas Buddy" built right into the app itself. Fine to do this externally, but automatically finding low-priced gas nearby is probably one of the key features of car automation in its operating environment.
Simple tweak to the Automatic interface with IFTTT, but has been under development for some time. How can we get this started ASAP?

Hey Todd,

Thanks for chiming in.

This is a great idea and something we have kicked the tires on as we have been retooling the Automatic application. However, there is no official stance yet on whether or not this will be something we include.

While this seems like a simple tweak, any changes to our IFTTT page would actually take significant development time. We are committed to revisiting and improving the current offering of IFTTT triggers, but at this time, our development resources are tied up in bigger picture projects.

Again, it is great to hear the demand for a feature like this and we will continue to look into ways to bring similar features to the future of Automatic's product.

Thanks again :)
