odometer setup

I understand that OBD-II port doesn't necessarily allow for Automatic Pro to read the odometer unless manufacturers decide to unlock the data for Automatic to use. Why can't this be side stepped by just having users input their odometer reading during initial setup and calculating the current odometer using the gathered mileage information? An app feature to update the odometer reading manually could be implemented to audit any discrepancies. It seems odd this has not already been implemented since a large number of users are attempting to use this adapter to report business mileage for the IRS (which requires odometer readings).

Could not have said it better!!  This is something I thought was going to be standard when I bought the device.

only makes sense to me.

It already asks all the time about my phone being the right contact or whatever all the time.

Hi Ben. We agree that this could be handy, it's just not something we've built yet. And you're correct that it would be manual entry since we can't get the odometer reading. Here's a similar "Idea" post about this.

Hi Amy. I was envisioning a more "Automatic" feature rather than manually entering the odometer every time you drive. It wouldn't be difficult to calculate the current odometer reading using a known odometer reading and the sum of trip mileages since it was entered. Seems silly it hasn't been implemented yet.

Thanks for clarifying, Ben.
