Quick question.... I just installed my Automatic link and set 2 rules for my Nest thermostat within Automatic. Ignition On-Away, Ignition OFF-Home. Now I also have the Nest app on my cell phone to control my heating and cooling while I’m away from my home. If I use the Nest app to control or change the temperature in my home while I’m away, will that override the Automatic Rule?

Yes because once you use the Nest app to change temp you have taken it out of away but if you put it back to away after changing temp automatic will still work according to your rule

Hi Gary,

Regardless of what commands you send via Nest's app or website, Automatic app will always send commands. If it sends a command to change to a mode that Nest is already in, it will still process and realize it doesn't need to take any action.

I hope this helps. Also, thanks for chiming in, TechExplorer :-)
