I would like to see Automatic Pro "Phone  home" every hour to update its location when ignition is off. I have competitors adapter that does this and its a nice feature to know where the car is at all times.

Thanks for the suggestion, Patrick. Curious what products do this? If the Automatic adapter "woke up" every hour to communicate with the car and send a message to your app there would be a grave risk of draining a car's battery. We work very hard to ensure that our adapter draws as minimal power as possible while the car is off. While in "sleep" mode, the adapter only draws 5.5mA. It would most certainly draw more than that if it was programmed to wake up every hour. Additionally, depending on the car's system, this "wake-up call" to the car could keep the car's system awake longer than it should be -- thus the risk of battery drain.

Its the Audiovox Car Connection 2.0 adapter. It has never caused any battery issues after two years. Reason I am switching is because Automatic is much more versatile be able to intergrate with other services such as IFTTT and Stringify.

Ok, thanks for the info. Welcome to Automatic! Be sure to check out Dashboard Labs too!

Even the ability to get the location in the app on demand would be nice.

You do see the car's current location if it's currently being driven or if the car is parked & hasn't been moved without the engine starting since the last trip. But yeah, if the car were towed, the adapter & app wouldn't know as it's not designed to be a car-theft/tow tracking device. But I hear you on wanting a feature like that! (The reason you can't rely on it for car theft is that a savvy thief would likely look for a tracking device and yank it out, unlike products like "Lo-jack" which are installed for such use-cases)
