I did find several threads about hard braking. I understand that scoring is being improved now, some want it more sensitive and others less so.

In general, I think the scoring is too easy. Too a high percentage of people have overall score of 95% or higher based on my own results:

95 - is top 39/40%
96 - is top 34/42%
97 - is top 28/30%
98 - is top 21/23/24/25%
99 - is top 13%
100 is top 10%

That's not even the point of my post. Sorry...

This is a specific instance when hard braking deduction doesn't make sense.

My understanding is the goal is to encourage fuel efficiency. The deduction for hard braking is less about safety, more for not anticipating and using more gas than needed.

Therefore, a driver should not dinged after several (7-10) seconds of not pressing the gas followed by a hard brake. Hills are one problem. I have 3 on my commute. Regardless of anticipation, I will have to hit the brake if the light is red. Why does it matter when I hit the brake in this case?

Could this be improved along with other scoring changes?

Hi there Kris. Thanks for your insights surrounding hard brake alerts. I agree that unexpected yellow lights can negatively impact your Drive Score (this has happened to me in the past), and the most frustrating part is that you don't have much control over the situation. The idea you proposed regarding a "penalty free timeframe" is really interesting. I'll pass this feedback along to the team.

You may have already seen this related discussion on hard brakes at yellow lights, but if not check it out.

I'll second this idea. It's frustrating when I get dinged after costing for the past half mile. I know I could have avoided the ding by gradually breaking, but when you don't know if you'll need to break or not costing to avoid steping on the gas for longer seems to me to be the most fuel efficient option.

Thanks for chiming in, headgamerz. Here's a related discussion on adding a coasting feature to the app.

Hi there, Kris. A quick update for you: We've changed the status of this idea to "not planned" for the time being. It's possible that we could add this feature further down the road, but it's not something we're planning to integrate into the app in the near future.

Thanks again for your idea!
