If so, please refer to the troubleshooting steps below...

If you’re a new user that is setting up a car for the first time:

  1. Ensure that if you have any other phones (Android or iPhone) nearby which are running Automatic, that they are powered off.

  2. Log out of the app.

  3. Visit the Bluetooth settings in your phone and remove any instances of Automatic.

  4. Remove the adapter from the OBD port while your car is off.

  5. Log back into the app and go through setup again.

  6. When you're prompted to plug in the adapter, go ahead and plug it in, make sure you hear a beep to ensure it's seated properly in the port, and then immediately select "Continue".

  7. If you receive an error in Setup, try unplugging and replugging the adapter, and try again.

If you continue to run into problems after trying these steps, please email our tech support team at help@automatic.com.
