Jawbone created some internet buzz after the Napa earthquake, by sharing anonymous compiled data of what happened to the sleep patterns of these near the epicenter. https://jawbone.com/blog/napa-earthqu...

I hope Automatic will maybe share some stats online too over time, regional driving habits maybe? Another interesting topic might be independent compilation of actual fuel economy stats for each car model, with true comparisons across different vehicle classes. Imagine you could be a reference site for consumers about actual real fuel consumption stats for any car on the market.

Thanks for posting Mark, interesting stuff. This is certainly something that we've considered, and we've touched on data visualization and analysis in some of our blog posts. One of our users also created this awesome map of his MPGs around San Francisco (by means of our API).

Comparing driving between similar vehicle classes/models would be really insightful and a great way to measure your fuel efficiency "success." Here's a link to a related discussion on comparing driving stats between peers.

I also like the idea of examining regional driving data. Holiday travel/roadtrip analysis might be compelling as well. Anyone else have any other ideas on what you'd like to see analyzed?

This reply was created from a merged topic originally titled Statistical Models for Mileage and Performance.

I'd like to see anonymized data collection (an opt-in feature) that allows users to enable capture of vehicle type, engine metrics, speed, and fuel type to help develop more accurate models for fuel economy and performance. Crowd sourcing the data collection through owner participation may enable better stats.

Great idea Bill, thanks for sharing! I merged your post into a related topic on anonymized driving data analysis/aggregation.
