Many times we are sitting in traffic and thinking to ourselves... man how long have I been in the car?  So i go to my Automatic App and look at the Currently Driving and go ... man I wish the start time of the trip was on here.     Anyone else agree?  Especially when you drive the same route each day and something seems off it would be good to take a note about that trip to track the lengthening issue for that trip.

I like this - especially for roadtrip when one drives 500-800!miles a day. Most cars , including mine, have a stopwatch type timer. I always mean to use it for an accurate account of my drive but never toggle through to start it.

I've always thought it would be reasonable that Automatic could/should include access to or functionality that matches these things. A timer from the start of the car to driving to ignition off seems something useful that could be added up for trip driving total.

Hi guys, thanks for the input!  I just posted a long reply in another thread about where we are with realtime data display during trips to temper expectations about it. But that said, this is one that is much simpler to implement as it doesn't need any data from our hardware to keep track of time!

No promises, but I like the idea and have heard something similar tossed around the design team room a few times. We're doing a big redesign project right now that will make it into the app sometime in the late summer... let's see what we can do about this. :)
