Start trip time when in motion not when engine starts (remote starter)

I'm required for business reasons to track travel time. However, I have a remote starter that warms/cools the car before entering it. By the time I enter the car it may have been anywhere from 5 to 15 minutes of run-time which adds to the length of my trip. It would be nice to have a global setting for "Trip starts when car is in motion"

Hi James,

Unfortunately that's not possible because the adapter is designed to turn on when the ignition of your vehicle is turned on. Movement doesn't play a part in how we capture trips.

I wish I had better news!

Thanks for the reply. I’m not saying the adapter shouldn’t turn on.....obviously this is not possible :-)

However you guys ARE in control of how you capture trips.

it’s just development time which is of course expensive....which I totally get being a developer for over 20 years.

However, how you define a trip is not a universally accepted definition.

If two families drive from A to B in separate cars and leave at the same time and arrive at the same time I would assume that the trip lengths would be the same.

But.....if the first family warmed their car up before leaving., but still left at the same time as the second family......then the first family had a longer trip....according to Automatic anyway.

Anyway. No big deal. No product is perfect, I like the device regardless :-)
