I missed logging trips from April 11 to today because I got logged out and didn't think to log in until today when I had a hard stop. Could automatic, or the app, let me know when it's been idle for a period of time? Maybe text after 24 hours (or any interval I choose) so I know I need to restart the app? Seems like an easy fix.

Sorry about missing those trips and thank you for the suggestion. This is actually something that we plan to work on! I want to be sure we have a way to flag users who haven't been active so they can get a reminder if that's what they need or we can reach out proactively to help them if necessary.

I like the idea of allowing the user to choose their own setting for when to be nudged. In the iOS app we do send a push notification now when you kill the app. It appears immediately after but can be dismissed and doesn't return.

I have never seen that push before, and this isn't the first time I've been logged out. Is there a toggle for that message somewhere?

In your iPhone Settings, in Notification Center make sure settings are toggled on for Automatic. If they're not, you won't see that notification. But if they are, you *should* see it any time the app is killed. It's not controlled by any settings inside the app itself.

I'm just realizing that you mentioned getting logged out, though. Do you mean the app is still open but you're getting logged out of it? Because that would be a different scenario and might point to a bug. I thought you were talking about the app being killed. Apologies if I jumped to the wrong conclusion!

Actually, I had to restore my iphone to purge some memory artifacts. I suspect I was logged out at that point.

Since I don't get a lot of warnings from Automatic, it took me a while to notice I wasn't getting pinged for speeding or fast stops. When I opened the app, it required me to log back in.

Ah, that explains it. So you shouldn't get logged out like that again but if you do, let us know. And otherwise, you can just keep the app open in the background so you can be sure not to miss any trips. However, if you kill the app, you'll see that notification that I mentioned above unless you have push notifications for Automatic turned off in your general iPhone settings.

Thanks again for sharing this idea with us, David. The team recently discussed it and although we're not planning to add an "inactivity text message" to the app, we're planning to address this problem in a different manner. Stay tuned :)

It's also worth noting that the notification mentioned above has been removed, so you'll no longer see it when you manually kill the app.
