I would love Automatic to have either as a paid upgrade in the app, OR built in, an accurate way to track mileage specifically for tax purposes.

I use "Trip Cubby" which is not perfect but a great place to start. It has many features I like such as being able to download the mileage history as a PDF, being able to categorize the mileage as a charity, business, medical, or moving. (It would be better if I could add multiple businesses to my mileage info.) It has tags I can add, destination info, purpose info, start/end time, an area to add extra expenses, and notes. It also lists the deduction rate (which varies for the four categories: business, charity, medical, moving,) which is excellent.

If you could make the ultimate mileage write off app, you would be worth twice the price to me, to make the annoying process as painless as possible. I could click on a trip/map and it would say: "Deduct me?" and I'd be like: "You betcha- make it business, this time. No extra expenses. Thank you!" And with a few clicks, it would spit out the most amazing PDF (and editable in case I don't want specific times of trips, or specific details in print form,) ever seen by any IRS agent. Then they would buy one.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who wants this and I'm not the first to suggest it, but there you go. Forget the points-- I need tax help.

Hi everyone. Business trip tagging is now available in v2.7+ of the iOS app and v1.7+ of the Android app! Here are the basics: Once a trip appears in the timeline, tap on it to view the trip summary. At the bottom of this screen, tap on the “Business” button in order to tag the trip. Right now, you can only tag trips with “Business”, but we are planning to add more options in a future update to the app. Eventually, you will also be able to view your tagged trips and export this data to a .CSV file on the web dashboard.

For more details on the trip tagging feature, please visit this FAQ.

We also recently launched an integration with Concur. Click here to read more about it and check out the related FAQs here.
