I was really hoping the pro might be able to monitor my car while I am away for long periods. But I park in my buildings garage which is the basement level. I understand my phone which has no problems might be using LTE as I live in an urban area. Is there any way for me to know if my automatic is getting a single? I noticed the last sync time was just before I parked, 20 hours ago. So I'm thinking it is blind while parked in the garage.

Hi Ed,

Yeah, if you park underground, it's possible the adapter is losing cellular connection before your trip ends which means it won't process that last trip until it regains a connection.

Here are a few FAQs that may be of interest:

Yes, I understand that.  My question was is there anyway to know from the app whether the adapter can't find 3G?   For example, I have start notices turned on.  Maybe I should start the car and wait a five minutes.  If I don't get a notice until I exit the garage, then I can assume there is no 3G signal.   Unfortunately, I bought the adapter for the beta battery monitoring application.  I leave my car for months at a time and would love to know when the battery gets low before it runs out all together.

Ah. That wouldn't work the way you're thinking about it even if your car was getting 3G connection while it's parked. Battery health is retroactive. This is because the adapter powers down when it's parked otherwise it could, ironically, drain your car battery. Any updates it gets to report back on things like battery health or check engine light happen while your engine is on.

Basically, data that comes from the car to the app & your account only gets collected when the engine is on.

We'd like for it to be able to do occasional battery health checks while a car is parked long-term but that's technically delicate and not yet built.

You're welcome. Also, to test your 3G connection underground - if you get a "car parked" notification after turning the engine off and your trip is immediately processed and appears in the app, the adapter is getting the required 3G connection.
