We need a way to maintain a vehicle's mileage/trip log. We bought Automatic to help create this log. We currently share a vehicle with four drivers and were hoping that this would maintain a mileage log so that we could easily prorate costs related to the vehicle and maintenance.

With the current multiuser setup, users cannot see all of the trips for the vehicle. We would like the ability to see trips for the vehicle, but don't necessarily need each driver's information (hard stops, hard accelerations, minutes over 70 mph), ideally we would have access to the date/time of each trip, odometer reading at the beginning and end of each trip, and which user put those miles on the vehicle.

From reading other entries in the blog, I see that mileage from the odometer reading is not always accurately reported by OBDII, and could be problematic. If there was a way for the app to prompt the user for beginning and ending odometer readings this would be helpful. Even if only the beginning, or only the ending odometer reading were obtained, the app could use the trip's mileage as calculated to get a rather close estimate of the missing odometer reading as long as one was manually entered (if not available via the Automatic link).

While looking for solutions in the discussion board, I did find the Blog with a new entry yesterday (2-26) regarding the release of the IFTTT channel. Using the shared Google Docs recipe, I may have found a work-around, but it requires quite a bit of work to set up (and each user to make the associated links in their accounts). This doesn't seem to have odometer readings, but at least is a temporary work around.

If anyone has any other suggestions for how to accomplish this, I'd be open. We were hoping to make it as easy and Automatic (pun intended) as possible!

You may want to check out our topic on data export as well: http://community.automatic.com/automatic/topics/export_or_download_data_history There's a demo app that allows you to export all of your trip data from the very beginning. As with IFTTT, each separate user will have to log in and access their own data, what you do with it at that point is up to you. Are you using the same account for all your users or is everyone using separate ones? If you have all users logged in to the same account, that should aggregate all your trip data using one account. There's no way to distinguish between different users or devices though. We'd love to hear from our Community as well if anyone has a similar situation.

Recording odometer readings is, as you mentioned, not quite as easy as it sounds. We have some ideas around it though. Stay tuned!
