The way iOS reports battery usage of apps isn't quite as straightforward as it seems. For example, if Automatic is shown to be using 41% of the battery, that doesn't mean we used 41% of the *total* battery, but only 41% of what portion of the battery got used during the listed time period. Your phone could only have used 10% of the battery during the last 24 hours but Automatic was using 41% of that.

The percentage will also vary based on when you check it. It will use more battery when you're connected and driving and less when you're at home and the app is in the background.

We're working to trim down the app so it uses less power overall. It's a fine line because connecting to your car is of the utmost importance and the app needs to always be "listening" to connect as quickly and reliably as possible. Our own internal testing has Automatic using about 5% an hour while driving and about 0.25% an hour when you're not driving .
