UPDATE 3/2017: Automatic Pro launched without customized car names. This feature was added in the 3.6 app update.

UPDATE 10/2016:
Automatic Pro was launched without trip tagging. Trip tagging was added in the next app update, 3.1.

Automatic Pro is a brand new app and adapter experience. When designing this new experience, we incorporated our findings from the past few years. One of the things we learned was that some of the features we'd built into the original Automatic experience are of varying value to users. We decided to take the time to understand what users miss most from the original Automatic experience, combine that with our own acquired expertise in the field along with business and technical needs and realities to then consider which features to build into Automatic Pro and its accompanying new Automatic app. When we bring features to Pro, we aim to also improve them to make them even more useful, as we did with our Parking feature. That takes a little more time. This will be happening alongside brand new features that are only possible with the cellular connection of the Pro adapter and the framework of the new app.

If there's a feature or some functionality you dearly miss from the original Automatic experience, please add it here as a new "Idea" topic or see if someone else already has in which case you can add your vote and your thoughts there. We don't guarantee that requests shared with us will definitely be fulfilled, but we do use the feedback in this community as an important data point in our considerations and decisions.

See this other FAQ for a full explanation of the differences between the adapters and apps.
